JEE Advanced Things To Know

Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) is a national level engineering entrance exam conducted by seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the guidance of Joint Admission Board (JAB) every year, for admissions to 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). JEE Advanced is the second stage of JEE and is conducted for top 2.

JEE Advanced Counselling Details

JEE Advanced Counselling will be through JoSAA which is the common counselling for IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Counselling for JEE Advanced involves the following procedure:

Step 1 – JEE Advanced Online registration: 

For registering themselves, the candidates have to enter details like JEE (Advanced) Roll Number, JEE (Advanced) Registration Number, Date of Birth – (as per JEE Advanced Admit Card) and Password.


Step 2 – Online choice filling

    • Applicants are required to log in to fill their choices as per preferences of branches, courses, and institutes. To log in, they need to enter the User ID (Registration No), JEE Advanced Roll No and Password.
    • Note: Candidates can change, edit, reorder their choices and add new ones till the final locking.

Step 3 – JEE Advanced Online seat allotment

    • JEE Advanced Seat Allocation gets complete in 6 rounds. Candidates are required to log in by using their User ID (Registration No), JEE Advanced Roll No and Password to check their Seat Allotment.They should check their JEE Advanced Seat Allotment at the end of every round.
    • During the process of online seat allocation, the soft copy of the category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) certificates uploaded at the time of registration or afterwards will be verified. 
    • Important: Once allotted a seat, candidates are advised to proceed with Online Payment to book their provisional seat allocation.

Step 4 – Reporting and documents verification 

    • The following original documents along with one attested copy must be furnished during the physical verification for taking provisional admission:
    • JEE Advanced Seat Allotment letter from JoSSA portal
    • JEE Advanced Original Admit card
    • JEE Advanced Application Form (duly filled)
    •  Duly filled Medical Examination Report
    • Proof of Date of Birth: Class X/HSC/Birth Certificate/Any other certificate as proof of date of birth
    • Class XII/SSC/Equivalent exam Mark sheet and Certificate of passing
    • Category Certificate (OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/PwD/DS) issued by the competent authority.
    • For foreign national, attested photocopy of the page in the passport containing name, photo, and nationality.
